Abstract

The following paper aims to study the two novels, House of Cards by Sudha Murthy and Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982 by Cho Namju from a feminist point of view. It aims to highlight the problems faced by middle class women by giving relevant examples from both the novels. Methodology and Approach: This research paper is based on two novels House of Cards by Sudha Murthy and Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982 by Cho Namju. It gives an introduction about feminist literature. It uses a feminist approach to bring out the problems faced by both the female protagonists in the novels. Outcome: The paper will give a brief introduction about feminist literature. It will also give the examples of feminist literature in India and South Korea. This paper will throw light on the various issues faced by middle class women in their lives by taking instances from both the novels. Conclusion and Suggestions: Feminist literature is the type of literature that advocates for the welfare of women. Both the novels are examples of feminist literature and depict the various misogynistic incidents that women have to go through in their lives. They show how a woman loses her self-identity due to pressure put on them. Some misogynistic acts are imbibed in our society that we don’t find those problematic anymore. Sudha Murthy is a famous Indian author who writes about middle class woman in her novels. Cho Namju is an author in South Korea who writes about the prejudices faced by women in South Korea.
