Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • Add The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor). To the best of my knowledge, the paper has less than 10% similarity.
  • I also declare that ChatGPT or any other AI did not write this paper.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • I / we shall be held responsible for the facts and opinion given in the research paper/ article. If any plagiarism / copyright violation or issue found in the manuscript, I / We will be fully responsible for the same. The editors do not assume any responsibility for the committed acts of plagiarism / copyright by the contributors, if any.

Manuscript Submission Guidelines for Authors

The SPL Journal of Literary Hermeneutics: An International Journal of Independent Critical Thinking cordially invite authors from the country and abroad alike to submit their original work for possible publication in the journal. The journal aims at providing a congenial and healthy forum for academic, scholarly and authoritative perspectives on multiple genres of literature–prose, poetry, drama, fictional and non-fictional literature, electronic and print media, Literary Criticism, Contemporary Critical Theory, New Literatures in the forms of translations and creative visions underlying socio-politico-economic and cultural issues and challenges of wide human import. Authors’ research articles should strictly conform to the MLA Style Handbook latest edition and would have a word length in between 3000 to 4000 inclusive of Abstract and Works Cited and Consulted. 

Format of Research Article (s):

Authors are advised to adhere strictly to the following academic and research ethic format in their articles and research papers:

1. Full title

with subtitle, (if any) The title of the articles and research papers must be typed in “Times New Roman font, size 14, bold (not all capital letters like articles and prepositions, except in the beginning).

2. Windows

Research articles/research papers must be submitted in Windows 7 or Windows 10 only in Microsoft Word format, not in PDF format.

3. Name and author’s affiliation

Author’s affiliation means the name of the institution with its full official address along with author’s Email address, he/she belongs to. It is generally listed below the author’s name as the “department, college,” of the university, etc.

4. Abstract

Authors must write an abstract of their research articles in about 150-200 words along with 5-6 Keywords. The word “Abstract” must be bold in 12 fonts.

Please follow the instruction for abstract: 

  1. Restructure your abstract (maximum 200-300 words) with the following heading:

    2. Methodology and approaches:
    3. Outcome:
    4. Conclusion and suggestions:
    5. Keywords:
  1. Please provide your ORCID ID. THE ORCID IDcan be generated from the following link: https://orcid.org/register.
  2. Mention the same as in the sample paper. At the end of your paper, please add your short bio.
  3. Please send the signed submission form attached to this email.

5. Text

Authors should note that the main body of the text of their research articles and research papers must be prepared in such a way that no formatting is needed afterwards. Heading, sub headings and illustrations should be well incorporated within the main body of the research article/research papers in Times New Roman font, size 12 and justified.

6. Word-Limit

The word-limit for research paper must be in between 3000-4000 words inclusive of Abstract and Works Cited and Consulted. In case of submission of Fiction (up to 10000 words), attention be given to character driven stories with the depth of emotions, motivation, imagination from a broad variety of socio-cultural perspectives; Poetry ( 20-50 lines) on profound contemporary themes

7. Line Spacing

All portions of the research articles should be double-line spaced.

8. Works Cited and Consulted

The expression ‘Works Cited and Consulted’ must appear centered one inch from the top of the page and be written on a new page. If the author cites and consults only one citation (book, journal, magazine, newspaper, etc.), it should be written Work Cited and Consulted.

9. Alignment

The first line of each entry should align with the left margin. All subsequent lines should be indented 5 spaces or set a hanging indent at 1/2inch.

10. Figures and Tabulations

They include graphs, tables, and diagrams and must be professionally and evidently presented with Figure Titles and numbers within the Text Document either at the end of the paragraphs or as a list mentioned in the Works Cited and Consulted

11. Page Numbers

Page numbers should be written in upper right corner keeping ½ inch from the top.

12. Paragraph Indentation

Paragraphs should be indented 5 spaces or ½ inch.

13. In-text citations

List the author’s last name either in the text of the research paper or in parentheses at the end of the sentence and the page number(s) from where the author gets the information.

14. Period (with special reference to prose work) (Imp.)

A period, also known as comma be put very carefully. If the citation is of three or less than three lines, it would be cited in the running process within quotation marks (“ ”) and in such a situation, the period would be used after the parenthesis, also known as small bracket. And if the citation is more than three lines, it would be written in a new paragraph using 5 spaces or ½ inch, and the period would be used before the parenthesis.

15. Syntax and Typography

The authors’ research articles/research papers must be syntactically and grammatically correct and While typing the text of the paper British English be followed. Avoid typographical errors and the amalgamation of British and American English. For example: British English follows ‘s’ while American ‘z’.

16. Plagiarism

Author’s article should be plagiarism free giving due acknowledgments to the ideas taken and be properly cited in Work(s) Cited and Consulted list. Submissions must be accompanied with a covering letter/self-declaration certificate of the effect “This is my original and plagiarism free contribution and has not been published anywhere else.” They will have to enclose the Plagiarism report of the research paper duly checked by plagiarism soft-wares like Urkund, Turnitin, Viper, etc.

17. Editorial Team Right

Editorial team is possessed of sole right of acceptance or rejection of the manuscript to get it published or not. Incomplete submissions or fabricated/unauthenticated information with regard to the submissions would lead to downright rejection or the authors may be directed by the Editorial team to modify their submissions as per author guidelines.

18. Secular Forum

Manuscripts shall be weighed for their intellectual significance irrespective of race, gender, caste, creed, religious belief, ethnic origin, nationality, or political ideology of the authors.

19. Double Blind Peer Reviewed Strategy

Submissions would be reviewed objectively with double blinded peer-reviewed strategy, which means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa, throughout the review process.

20. Brief-Bio Note

Finally, the authors must provide their submissions with Brief-Bio Note consisting of their designation and achievements, along with authors’ Email address, etc. Note: Authors should avoid decorating their submission with lines, borders, special characters, which may lead to rejection.
