A Commentary on Nationalism through the Lens of Rabindranath Tagore’s Select Poems

To gain knowledge about the theme of nationalism as portrayed in select poems by Rabindranath Tagore, a prominent Bengali poet and philosopher. Through an analysis of his works, this study aims to examine Tagore's nuanced perspective on nationalism, which transcends conventional boundaries. Methodology and Approaches: Tagore's poems reflect a deep reverence for one's cultural heritage and the interconnectedness of humanity, emphasizing the need to embrace diversity and promote a universal brotherhood. By delving into Tagore's poetic expressions, this abstract shed light on the complexities and dimensions of nationalism as envisioned by one of India's most celebrated literary figures. Outcome: This project report helped me enhance my knowledge regarding the work done in an investigative and informative way as well as in a thematic manner. Going through this work really helped me polish off my skills in research-based work. Conclusion: Tagore envisioned a nation that fosters intellectual growth, fearlessness, and a genuine appreciation for diversity. For him, true nationalism was one that celebrated the unity of humankind while acknowledging and respecting its individual differences which are evident in his works like "Where the mind is without fear" and "Freedom."
