Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the themes of identity history and memory through Amitav Ghosh’s “The Shadow Lines” Methodology and Approaches: This research paper explores study on “The Shadow Lines”, by Amitav Ghosh, identity, history and memory. This book examines the detailed connections between individual and social identities, the lasting effects of historical occurrences, and the inflexible nature of memory. Outcome: this paper offers an understanding about how the partition affected the people and there live. This even cause the people to lose their identity. However, this paper explains the importance of memory in regaining and understanding one’s identity.
