Treatment of Love, Marriage and Sex in Vikas Sharma’s Novel Love’s Not Time’s Fool: A Critical Study

Aim: The paper brings out the importance of true love and marriage in lives of human beings; and in the want of love and marriage, human life is incomplete. In Love’s Not Time’s Fool, Professor Vikas Sharma describes the importance of pure love through Rich Pandit and Abhilash who love each other without any selfishness. Richa is married woman; but she fails to get physical love from her husband Malya who is the proprietor of Peppe and Tette Footwear Export House. Richa and Abhilash meet at a book store, where she helps him by paying his books bills and they become good friends at once. Richa offers him a job in her footwear company and Abhilash accepts her job proposal and starts his duty to fulfill his financial needs. While playing tennis both of them come to closer each other and get pleasure in playing tennis on the private court of Malya as Malya is in U. S. A., Richa loves Abhi who studies the sublime books to aspire for I. A. S. officer. As we see that Richa and Abhilash have become frank with each other and enjoy love making. Her husband had become impotent as he got injured on his penis while playing cricket. After some days he got second injury on the same organ when he was playing baseball in U. S. A. After the death of Malya, all his properties are transferred in the name of Richa and later, Richa got married to Abhilash. The novelist has treated the theme of love with colours of false love, extramarital affairs and flirtations for only sexual pleasure. We learn that true love wins in the end of the novel.Methodology and Approach: The study of the novel is based on the love story of Richa Pandit and Abhilash in Vikas Sharma’s Love’s Not Time’s Fool and the love between Richa and Abhilash may have many superficial layers in the starting and middle parts of the novel but in the end of the novel their love lies in deeper layers. The content analysis has been used to fulfill the needs of Richa Pandit and Abhilash.
